Branded snail eradication products.
Medicines intended for snail eradication contain copper, which is toxic to fish. In addition, dead snails can heavily pollute the aquarium, especially *Melanoides*, which remain in the substrate.
ZMF Limnacid.
Liquid preparation. It is effective in the fight against snails, *Hydra*, planarians, leeches, and other similar aquarium pests. It should be noted that this product is potent, so it is necessary to strictly follow the dosage recommended by the manufacturer. Only in this case will “Limnacid” cause no harm to fish and plants. Before using it, it is recommended to remove activated carbon and other adsorbing substances from the aquarium, as well as to replace 1/3 of the aquarium water with fresh water. To combat snails, the preparation is used at the rate of 1 drop per 1 liter of aquarium water. Against other invertebrates – 1 drop per 2 liters of aquarium water. The preparation is packaged in 10 ml bottles with a measuring cap.
Sera Snailpur.
A product against snails, *Hydra*, and slugs in freshwater aquariums. 2 hours after applying the product to the aquarium water, it is necessary to replace 30% of the aquarium water.
While doing this, remove snails paralyzed by the product from the aquarium. After removal, the remaining water must be treated with a full dose (calculated for the total volume of water in the aquarium) of sera aqutan conditioner, and fresh water must be added. The treatment must be repeated after a week and after two weeks in order to remove young snails that have hatched from eggs during this time (egg clutches remain intact during treatment with this product). It is very important to closely monitor aquarium fish during treatment. Rapid breathing and gulping of atmospheric air are symptoms of overdose. In this case, it is necessary to immediately perform a water change. With Sera snailpur you will quickly and reliably get rid of the trouble with snails, as well as freshwater polyps (*Hydra*), roundworms, and other parasites. Shake well before use!
A) Against snails. Turn off the filter and increase aeration. Do not feed during treatment. Many catfish and other bottom-dwelling fish cannot tolerate Sera snailpur, nor can Black Ruby Barbs (*Puntius nigrofasciatus*). For the duration of the product’s use, move the above-mentioned species to a separate container. Add 1 drop of the preparation per each liter of water or 1 ml per 25 liters of water. During the application of the product, it is necessary to constantly monitor the behavior of the fish. An indicator of an excessive dose is rapid breathing and the accelerated appearance of bubbles on the water surface. In this case, half of the water should be replaced. Effective for 2 hours. After 2 hours, it is necessary to remove dead snails and perform a 30% water change. Sera snailpur does not destroy snail eggs. In case of heavy infestation, repeat the treatment after 8 days once again to destroy the hatched young.
B) Against *Hydra*. First, proceed as described for the application of the product against snails. For three consecutive days, daily administer 1 drop of the preparation per each liter of water or 1 ml per 25 liters of aquarium water. On the third day, replace half of the water. The filter should be washed and turned back on.
C) Before placing new plants in the aquarium, disinfect them in a separate container for two hours using a double dose of Sera snailpur. Then the plants should be thoroughly rinsed with water. Thus, you will reliably prevent the introduction of parasites.
Sera Snail–Ex.
A product for combating snails, *Hydra*, and flatworms in freshwater aquariums. Sera Snail-Ex reliably combats snails, but not their eggs, so in case of severe infestation
it is recommended to repeat the course after 8 days to destroy young snails hatched during this time. Shake well before use!
A). To eliminate snails: — 1. Before using the product, it is necessary to turn off the filter and ensure good aeration in the aquarium. Do not feed the fish during the application of the product. — 2. Many species of catfish and other bottom-dwelling fish, as well as black and rosy barbs, cannot tolerate the preparation; therefore, for the duration of the product’s use, the above-mentioned species must be moved to a separate container. — 3. The pH level in the aquarium water must be above 7. — 4. Add 15 drops for every 10 liters of aquarium water or 2 ml of the product for every 30 liters of water. — 5. Make sure the product is properly mixed with water. — 6. In case of a high level of carbonate hardness of the water (over 150 dH), the dose must be increased to 2.5 ml for every 30 liters of water. — 7. During the application of the product, it is necessary to constantly monitor the behavior of the fish. In case of overdose, fish breathe rapidly and stay near the water surface, periodically gulping air. In this case, you should immediately perform a 50% water change. — 8. 4 hours after starting the application of the product, remove dead snails from the aquarium. At the same time, perform a 30% aquarium water change.
B) To eliminate *Hydra*: — 1. Perform the procedures specified in paragraphs 1-2, section “To eliminate snails” of these instructions. — 2. Add sera snail ex directly to the aquarium water for three days daily at the rate of: 1 drop per 1 l of water or 1 ml per 25 l of water. — 3. On the third day, change 50% of the water in the aquarium.
C) For preventive purposes: To protect the habitat in your aquarium from introduced parasites, before placing new plants in the aquarium, it is necessary to disinfect them in a separate container using a double dose of sera snail ex for two hours. Then rinse thoroughly and place them in the aquarium.
Sera snail collect.
Snails are attractive aquarium inhabitants if their number does not exceed the norm. In case of their excess, they can very quickly become harmful to the aquarium. The new SERA snail
trap helps collect their excessive amount without the use of chemicals! It works on the “mousetrap” principle: snails attracted by the aroma of tablet food crawl inside the trap through an inclined barrier – lightweight lamellae freely hanging on a metal axis and capable of deviating only in one direction – inward, and the barrier closes behind them. The Sera snail trap has another feature: in front of the inclined barrier, a fixed “grid” consisting of individual “bars” can be installed. The distance between the “bars” can be set independently, depending on the size of the caught snails (varies in the range of 3-53 mm with a 3 mm step). Thus, only snails can penetrate the trap, and your fish will be safe. But often fry or small aquarium fish can still get trapped inside. Do not worry, as water inside the trap does not stagnate and nothing threatens the fish (or perhaps small shrimps). The shortcomings probably include only some inconvenience in emptying the trap, for which sometimes it has to be completely disassembled.
Application: 1. Place one food tablet in the holder and place it inside the trap. 2. If necessary, install the “bars” of the fixed “grid” with the distance you have chosen. To insert a “bar” into place, turn it 90 degrees and insert it into the hole. 3. Lower the trap to the bottom of the aquarium, turning it down by one corner and then another so that it fills with water. Press the trap down from above with a stone or another object. 4. Remove caught snails as the trap fills up.
Tropical LIMNA–TOX.
Any growth of snail populations in aquariums is undesirable. LIMNA-TOX in the form of a solution controls their appearance chemically. Upon contact with the preparation, snails quickly die. A 30 ml bottle of the preparation is sufficient for disinfecting 300 liters of water.
JBL Schnecktol.
Preparation for combating snails, leeches, planarians, and *Hydra*, 100 ml. • Along with JBL Schneckenfalle, this preparation simply and quickly solves problems caused by snails. • After the treatment is completed, remove dead and unresponsive snails from the aquarium. This preparation has no effect on tower snails (*Melanoides tuberculata*). Dosage: 25 ml per 100 l of aquarium water; 1 outer hopper of the screw cap for 5 l of water; 1 inner hopper – for 30 l of water. Partial – (about 20%) water change every two weeks.
JBL LimCollect II.
The trap solves snail-related problems without chemicals. With adjustable limiters to protect against accidental entry of fish into the trap. Two sticks can be extended as height limiters and fixed in two positions. Bottom fish tablets are very suitable as bait. Put it in at night – wait – in the morning you will take a full trap of snails. Remove the snail-filled trap from the water. Size: 11.7x9x2.5 cm.
Dajana Molucid.
A highly effective product designed to eradicate unwanted snails and invertebrates that entered the aquarium along with plants or food caught in nature.
When eradicating snails in the aquarium, you should be extremely careful, especially if fish are in the aquarium at that time. Dead snails in the warm water of the aquarium will begin to decompose rapidly, which can cause fish poisoning. Therefore, after the operation to clean the aquarium from snails, their bodies should be removed from the water as often as possible. Snails hiding in the bottom layer very often get into the aquarium along with aquarium plants. These snails are very difficult to remove after eradication, so pay special attention to them.
Start the operation with the dose indicated on the label. In soft and acidic water, the action of the preparation increases! In case of accidental overdose, immediately replace ½ of the aquarium water. If there are too many snails, we recommend removing the fish from the aquarium before the operation. After the operation, dead snails should be carefully collected, the bottom loosened and thoroughly siphoned, up to 50% of the water replaced, the filter thoroughly cleaned, and the initial parameter values restored in the aquarium.
Before returning the fish to the aquarium, wait at least 2-3 days; if infusoria turbidity does not appear in the water, measure the pH and nitrogenous substance content once again. If all indicators, including temperature, are in order, you can put the fish back. The product will not harm aquarium plants, sometimes their growth may only slow down. Dosage: 5 ml per 50 liters of aquarium water.
AQUACONS Snail Treatment.
The “AQUACONS Snail Treatment” conditioner is designed for quick and reliable elimination of unwanted snails, *Hydra*, flatworms, and leeches in freshwater aquariums.
How to use: Shake well before use! Turn off the biofilter and ensure water aeration in the aquarium. Do not feed the fish during treatment! The pH level of the aquarium water should be above 7.0.
To eliminate snails, add the conditioner to the aquarium at the rate of 5 ml of conditioner per every 75 liters of aquarium water. After adding the conditioner, the water in the aquarium should be stirred gently. The bottle cap, which holds approximately 5 ml of the solution, can be used as a measuring container. The conditioner does not destroy snail eggs. If necessary, repeat the treatment after 7-10 days against newly appeared young snails.
To eliminate *Hydra*, flatworms, and leeches, add 5 ml of conditioner per every 100 liters of aquarium water daily for 3 consecutive days.
After the end of the conditioner application period, it is recommended to replace up to 50% of the water volume in the aquarium. At recommended doses, the conditioner is safe for most fish and aquarium plants. It is not recommended to use in aquariums with catfishes, bottom-dwelling fish, and barbs. Exceeding the above-mentioned dose of the conditioner is not allowed!
